Well time is going by pretty quickly and it is amazing to see the changes that have taken place with Nora already. she is starting to look less like the angry old man when she came out, to a sweet baby girl. She is definitely growing. She started at 6lbs 4oz, and went down to 5lbs 8oz, but has rebounded to almost 7 lbs.
So far she has been a very good baby. Not too fussy,. And when she is, it is only because she is hungry, otherwise she is content …

Okay, so there we were in the delivery room, I had just cut the cord. They then placed her on Sharon’s chest and we both cried again, all three as a family at last. The moment was perfect. But as with all moment they are fleeting, but the memory of a great one gets burned into your mind forever.
It was time to call friends and family, even though most already knew through Facebook, and tell them the wonderful news first hand. As I exited the room, our good friend Bryan …

(As a preface, I must tell you I am typing this entry as I sit in the dark at the hospital with Sharon taking a rest and baby Nora in her bassinet sleeping snug as a bug in a rug right next to me making the cutest cooing noises ever, all is perfect in the world at this moment. Also the text in italics is the status updates I made on Facebook throughout the labor)

On August 13, 2009, one of Sharon’s favorite patients, B.J. Nicklesen turned 100 years old! And to honor this accomplishment a party was thrown in his honor at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church where he attended mass for over 90 years on and off. He even helped build the hall where the party was held at, the Nicklesen Hall named after him several years ago.
The Pelican, a small weekly publication in Santa Rosa County FL, did a really nice article about him which I have copied below. (well I am …

Well it seems these last two months are going to take an eternity. The first 8 flew by, but it feels like time is at a standstill. And if I think that, can you imagine how Sharon feels about it? She has been uncomfortable and generally miserable. Although she is handling like a champ because she, as well as I, know this pregnancy as a blessing.
What we don’t get is that it seems that women who got pregnant after us are having their babies! How can that be? For …

In addition to Trish we had my good friend ,Dave from Cincinnati come visit. We knew each other from up there when we worked together at a frame shop which he now owns and operates. We were also co-workers and roommates on the Big Island of Hawaii. We had a lot of fun adventures there. From exploring lava tubes to mountain biking through rainforests.
So when he came to visit I had to of course find some sort of challenging adventure. We had already mountain biked the trails here a few …

For the last few weeks I have been waiting for my friend Heather to call me and let me know she was in labor. Heather, like me last year, was having a home birth and she asked me to be there with her, along with her other great friends. I felt very honored to be asked. Heather and I only met this year and we connected on a very special level.
Well, 40 weeks had gone by and nothing. 41 weeks, nothing. Then on …

Trish had come to stay with us for a week, plenty of time to really explore Pensacola. She drove down with her dog Abby which made the puggles happy, they love having friends come visit.
The first day started a week-long whirlwind of activities. We went to the Pensacola Naval Museum and Fort Barrancas to see the sights and hone her photography skills. It was hot out that day so the outdoor shots were limited. We did get to see the lighthouse for the first time, and got some great shots. …
