A light crowd on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

This is a beach town I have visited several times before and really enjoyed it. It has a totally different pace than Pensacola Beach, TOTALLY! Now that can be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for. Ocean City lacks any secluded beach areas like Pensacola has. But it has a very large boardwalk that stretches for 2.5 miles and dates back to 1902 and is recognized as one of the best Boardwalk’s in the country. It is non-stop shops, restaurants, hotels and bars complete with a rather sizable amusement park.

The water is cold and the sand is extremely hot in the summer due to its dark tan color. As compared to Pensacola’s cooler bright white sand and in the summer the water temps hover around 90. The waves are better and more consistent in Ocean City for sure though and the tides are ripping! The crowds line the entire beach and must number 20 times or more the tourists that Pcola Beach gets.

Beach pizza and beach fries are the must get items in Ocean City. And I managed to have some of both. The one place I always seem to end up at some point while there is Shenanigans Irish Bar and Restaurant. It has great food and good beer choices.

This most recent trip I could not help but think of Noah while we were at Shenanigans. As it is at another irish pub, MacGuire’s, in Pensacola where I honor his memory with posting a dollar bill every year to commemorate his birth and death (read the incredible stories behind the Noah dollars>>) While browsing through the menu I remembered singing the Irish Unicorn Song about Noah and the Ark because that song is forever connected with Noah for us. And there it was, a sandwich named “Noah’s Melody”!!! How crazy of a coincidence is that!?!? I did not end up ordering it though but Cookie’s boyfriend Eric did, pretty much just to pay respects to Noah for me. I thought it was a cool gesture. He won me over with that, and the fact he bought me Shiner 98.

We had a great day and ended it with a hand squeezed margarita at Davey Jones’ Locker pub. If you like a great margarita and know the difference, you need to get one of theirs.
